Top 10 Most Buddhist Countries (2022)

 Buddhism is one of the largest religions in the world, originating in India more than 2,500 years ago. It currently has about 506 million adherents or 6 percent of the world's population. Buddhism is a universal religion with followers everywhere, but most of it is concentrated in East and Central Asia.

The following are the top 10 countries with the highest number of Buddhists among the population, of which seven make up more than 50 percent of the population, according to Pew Research 2020.

10. South Korea has a Buddhist population of 21.90 percent of its population of 51.78 million.

9. Singapore has a Buddhist population of 32.30 percent of its population of 5.69 million.

8. Japan has a Buddhist population of 33.20 percent of its population of 125.8 million.

7. Mongolia has a Buddhist population of 54.5 percent of its population of 3.28 million.

6. Laos has a Buddhist population of 64 percent of its population of 7.28 million.

5. Sri Lanka has a Buddhist population of 68.6 percent of its population of 21.92 million.

4. Bhutan has a Buddhist population of 74.7 percent of its 772,000 population.

3. Myanmar has a Buddhist population of 79.8 percent of its population of 54.41 million.

2. Thailand has a Buddhist population of 92.6 percent of its population of nearly 70 million.

1. Cambodia has a Buddhist population of 96.8 percent of its population of 16.72 million.
